KS2 History Workshop: Anglo-Saxons
Welcome to Mr Dilly’s Key Stage 2 Anglo-Saxon workshop! Performed as Saxon warrior Hengest, Mr Dilly plunges pupils into life in Saxon Britain at the time of Viking raids and invasions. From the legendary tale of Beowulf to the struggle against Viking forces, children experience an energetic, interactive workshop filled with chants, songs, re-enactments, and lively storytelling that brings this dramatic period of history to life.

What will the children will experience?
Take part in a re-enactment of Beowulf and Grendel, with many pupils joining the performance.
Learn and perform a Grendel chanting song together.
Join in a full-class Saxon victory chant and stomping movement to feel battle energy.
Explore how the Anglo-Saxons raided, settled, and lived in Britain.
Discover the role of King Alfred the Great in uniting Saxons against Viking invasions.
