Mr Dilly Presents VE DAY 80: A Victory in Europe WWII Special
ABOUT THE EVENT
Made to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), this powerful and accessible film also stands alone as an engaging introduction to World War II — perfect for topic study, classroom use, or anyone interested in this defining global conflict.
This dynamic and educational experience brings the story of World War II to life — helping students, families, and curious viewers understand why we commemorate VE Day and explore the key global events that led to victory.
In the event Mr Dilly uses dramatic storytelling, real-life inspired characters, and archive footage to explore:
✅ How the war began and the impact on everyday people in Britain and beyond
✅ The role of key Allied nations — including the Soviet Union (Russia), the USA, and the British Commonwealth
✅ The road to Victory in Europe, with scenes of celebration and reflection
✅ A live Q&A segment answering real questions from children across the UK
✅ A thoughtful conclusion exploring the values VE Day represents today — such as courage, kindness, and responsibility
Please Note:
🌏 Although focused on VE Day (May 8th, 1945), the film also explains that the war continued in the Pacific until VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) in August 1945. ⚠️ Please note: This video was created for ages 7–13 (KS2–KS3). It avoids graphic imagery and does not cover sensitive topics like the Holocaust, which teachers and families are encouraged to explore separately in an age-appropriate way.
