Virtual History Visits FAQ
How much does a Virtual History Visit cost?
Each Virtual History Visit costs £150.
This includes one live online session for one school, one year group and one history topic, with multiple classes from that year group able to watch together at the same agreed time.
Sessions for additional year groups, key stages or history topics should be booked separately.
How long does each visit last?
Each visit lasts approximately 45 minutes.
This includes the main history session, pupil questions and a class quiz.
How do we watch?
Virtual History Visits are delivered live via Microsoft Teams.
To make access as simple as possible for your school, the visit usually takes place using a Teams meeting link created by the school. This helps avoid issues with school firewalls, permissions and safeguarding settings, as the meeting is hosted within your own school system.
Once the booking is confirmed, your school can send the Teams meeting link to Mr Dilly in advance. Mr Dilly will then join the meeting as the guest presenter.
Please make sure your school’s internet settings, firewall and permissions allow external guests to join the Teams meeting before the visit.
A short technical check can be arranged in advance if needed.
How many classes can watch?
Multiple classes from the same school can watch at the same time, making the visit suitable for a whole year group or shared topic event.
If you would like separate sessions for different year groups, please mention this when enquiring.
How do pupils ask questions?
Pupil questions should be sent in advance by email or through a question form supplied after booking.
Mr Dilly will choose a selection of questions to answer during the live visit. If time allows, there may also be the chance for a small number of live follow-up questions from the class.
What equipment do we need?
Your school will need:
a smartboard, large screen or projector connected to the computer running Microsoft Teams
speakers so pupils can hear Mr Dilly clearly
a webcam so Mr Dilly can see the class
a microphone so Mr Dilly can hear pupils and staff
a reliable internet connection
permission to access Microsoft Teams through the school network
A short technical check can be arranged before the visit if needed.
Does a teacher need to be present?
Yes. A teacher or member of school staff must remain present throughout the session and is responsible for pupils during the visit.
Can we record the session?
Sessions may not be recorded unless this has been agreed in writing in advance.
How do we pay?
Your school will be invoiced for the Virtual History Visit. Payment is by BACS.
Full payment is due before the visit takes place unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For cancellations made less than 21 days before the agreed visit date, the full booking fee remains payable.
What is your cancellation policy?
If your school needs to cancel or rearrange a Virtual History Visit, please give as much notice as possible.
Cancellations made more than 21 days before the agreed visit date will not be charged.
For cancellations made less than 21 days before the visit, the full booking fee will be due.
Where possible, Mr Dilly may be able to move the visit to a new mutually convenient date. This will be offered at Mr Dilly’s discretion and subject to availability.
If the session cannot go ahead because of technical issues at the school, Mr Dilly will work with the school to rearrange where possible, but the full fee may still be payable.
